抽煙的壞處相信沒有人不知道吧？
人的確有吸煙的權利，但我們在享用自己的權利時是否應該顧及別人的權利呢？
吸煙沒有理由是個人的問題，眼下暫且不談對大自然的污染問題。吸煙不是單純地「吸」，在吸煙的動作中亦包含了「呼」的步驟。
你如果只「吸」不「呼」的話我想沒人有權阻止你吸煙，但假若你呼出的氣體影響了別人的權利的話則大有問題。你所呼出來的氣體是帶有侵害性的，毫無疑問地是一種慢性毒氣。
當你享受抽煙的樂趣時，周圍無辜的人卻要忍受你呼出的毒氣，這種剝削他人權利的做法是不能容忍的。學校是一個人口密集的地方，即使走到那裡身邊也會有其他學生，你的一舉一動無容置疑地會為其他學生帶來影響。如果讓學生長期在污煙彌的環境中成長的話，他們的生理發育必定受到影響，由此可見校方禁止學生在校內吸煙是可以理解的。
但是校方禁止學生在校外吸煙是不合理的，任何人都應該擁有抽煙的權，如果只是在人煙稀少的地方抽煙的話，絕對是可以接受的。
故我贊成在校內禁煙，卻反對禁制學生在不影響別人的情況下吸煙的做法。影響校譽不應該是禁煙的原因，這只是一個藉口，一個侵害學生權利的藉口。學校應該是讓學生學習及成長的地方，而不是一個與其他學校比較的地方，為了聲譽而對學生進行種種限制是極為可恥的行為。
