I WAS WITH MY HUSBAND IN ASTORIA,OREGON WHERE THE SHIP WAS BUILT AND COMMISIONED. THANKS TO THE CREATOR OF THIS SITE, I AM ONCE AGAIN A YOUNG BRIDE MARRIED TO THE HANDSOMEST GOB IN THE NAVY,LEAST HE WAS TO ME.HE SERVED ON 159 TILL IT RETURNED TO US IN FALL OF 45 AND WAS DISCHARGED FROM SAMPSON, NY NOV. 28,1945
