Hello and God Bless those who serve, have served and will serve for our Nations Freedom! They wouldn't let my Ed in the service because he had a perforatted ear drum(he tried 3 times!)soooooo, since he was a trumpet player he began travelling with the big bands throughout the 40's (from 43 through 49) In 44 and 45 he played mostly with Mal Hallett and played Sampson. He says they were treated so well and had a ball (well actually he gets more graphic but your kids and grandchildren needn't hear the stories!!)Ed turns 80 this next May (2004) and he still plays professionally (2 and 3 X a week with a popular duo in Daytona known as Vested Interest and he leads a 4 pc dance band in Orlando etc known as Shades of Gray) Would anyone have any Mal Hallett pictures from the 44 and 45 shows at Sampson that I could purchase a copy of? I'm throwing Ed a surprise 80th Jazz Jam and presenting him w/a memory book and seek things to add to the book. I'd also like to obtain copies of some of the pix on this site and don't know who to contact to get those. Some of the pix don't come up at all on the entertainment page and there might be something there I can use. I'm not a techie but rebooting didn't help to bring up the pix on that page. Oh well, I was blonde maybe that's it. Anyway, I wish you the best and thank you for giving your best.
Respectfully,
Billie Jo
