My father served on this boat in WWII. Have his complete uniform,military ID, discharge papers and just found a picture of the crew of the USNTS CO 53-43. Know he was discharged due to a misfire(gun backfired) on the boat that killed the guy beside him and my father was severely injured. He never spoke about the incident and unfortunately he is gone now. Would love to get any information on the ship and any if anyone remembers my father....He name was George Edward Waters from Gainesville, Ga.
