In reply to: Charles A. Bailey 's message, "USS Natrona APA214" on 15:10:58 03/16/06 Thu

The way ships get added to the website is that someone approaches me with a bunch of material, or I find a bunch of material, put it together and add it.
Other than that there is no logic to what gets added and what doesn't.
There are over 7000 images on the website, but over 75,000 in my data archives.
Some of the first ships on the site have only a few images, but others have grown as people contributed more.
There were only about 10 images from the Neshoba when the site started, now there are many times that.
One thing that I do ask is that if you have text, you do the transcribing... I don't have the time due to long commute and full time job.
I prefer to scan pictures myself, but if people are going to do it for me, I ask that they check with me first for some hints and requirements.
Latest ship added was APA 8...I picked up a collection on Ebay that had some unique images.

One thing I don't do is duplicate ships that have their own sites. When the site first went live, I had AGC 7 USS McKinley on it. I have since given everything I have to their webmaster and let them present it with their material.

I also share everything with NavSource. They are the only site with blanket permission to copy anything from my site.

Hope this answers your question.
Russ
