Subject: Poll time

Last night was game 1 of a seven game stretch (including one MAAC game) that basically represents our non-conference schedule. At the end of this stretch, on Jan. 6, Maryland will be our only non-MAAC opponent remaining, and I doubt many people had that penciled as a win.

The Sun and some on this board have suggested that we have a non-conference schedule that should help us get some Ws and get over the 5 win hump this year. So here is my questions for the esteemed panel. What do you expect our record to be in the remaining six games? And how many wins do we need to have out of the six to keep you from labeling this season a disappointment?

Here are the opponents, and what they have done so far:
Niagara (0-3): losses to Marshall, Canisius and at Central Florida
UMBC (2-0): who hasn't played since beating us
Mount Saint Mary's (2-2): who has lost to NC St. and GW but beat Columbia and New Hampshire
Santa Clara (3-1): wins over Pacific, Montana St. and non-DI Calif. Santa Cruz, loss to San Jose St
at Northeastern (2-2): wins over Fordham and non-DI Suffolk, losses to Rhode Island and New Mexico
Central Connecticut (2-1): wins over UMass and St. Peter's, loss to High Point

My answers: I believe we will go 2-4. But coming off of the loss to FDU, I almost think we have to go 4-2 (or at least 3-3) to have any sort of momentum going into conference play. Anything less will be very disappointing, I think.
