BALTIMORE (Jan. 6)--Bernard Allen scored 15 of his career-high 21 points in the second half and Loyola shot 12-for-19 from the field in the final 20 minutes as the Greyhounds came back from as much as a nine-point second-half deficit to defeat Central Connecticut, 65-63, in a men's basketball game played at Reitz Arena Monday night.

Loyola (3-7) trailed 46-37 with 14 minutes left and 54-47 with 8:24 to go before blitzing the Blue Devils (4-6) with a 12-0 run in a five-minute span late in the half. Allen's three-pointer from the left wing with 3:49 to go gave Loyola a five-point lead, 59-54, and his steal and layup with 2:19 left gave the Greyhounds a 61-55 lead.

The Blue Devils cut the Loyola lead back to three twice, including John Alexander's free throws with seven seconds left, but Loyola's Lucious Jordan hit two free throws with four seconds left to make Jon Popofski's three-pointer for Central Connecticut at the buzzer a non-factor.

Bobby Bossman also had a career high for Loyola, scoring 19 points, including 14 in the first half on 4-for-6 shooting from three-point range. Jordan had 14 points, a career-high six assists and shot 8-for-9 from the foul line, including 4-of-4 in the final 12 seconds of the game.

Ron Robinson led the Blue Devils with a game highs of 22 points and eight rebounds, shooting 7-for-12 from the field. Ricardo Scott scored 12 points for Central Connecticut but shot just 5-for-14 from the field. The Blue Devils shot 53 percent in the second half but were outdone by the Greyhounds, who made 11 of their first 14 shots (79 percent) in the final 20 minutes.

The Greyhounds also shot 8-for-17 from three-point range and 13-for-15 from the foul line.

Loyola returns to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action Wednesday, traveling to Fairfield for a 7:30 p.m. game.
