{} Keen orbs roamed the gathering dusk, senses honed to razor sensitivity. Barrel dipped low beneath her slim back, heavy with the unborn foal. Strides bore her cautiously out of the shadows which had become her home, femme moving with amazing agility and grace for her present status. Wandering silently like a pale shadow, she descended upon the watering hole thirstily. Checking the surrounding vicinity warily, fine dial was plunged into the liquid. As soon as the thirst was quenched, swift jog brought her back, closer than usual to the other equines. If ever she needed the protection of the herd, it was now: close to the due-date. Ivories nibbled the parched vegetation, suspicious glances cast about every few mouthfuls…{}
