cause now i might have something to live for.

From afar in the dining hall, Tryn froze, eyes growing wide as marks, black pupils growing small as more light came in. shards!--that means hatching, doesn't it? Forget the meatroll, the klah. The femme leaped to her feet, food forgotten. No time for the Candidate's robes now. She sprinted out the doorway, calling back a hasty apology to the rider she'd nearly mowed down, then putting all energy into her legs, her feet. Shells, she didn't know she could run so fast. Which way were the sands--left or right? Another bugle decided for her. Left. She ducked into the appropriate tunnel and flew, panting hard for breath, but never slowing. And then--she turned a corner, and was there. Rapidly she slowed, sending sand up in the air. thank faranth, i made it in time. Then it registered that one hatchling was free, wet and glistening with egg-fluid, and she could only stare. a bronze...is it? good luck, then. Fully to a stop now, Tryn leaned over, trying to ease the cramp she'd rapidly developed by dashing at full speed. And she'd thought she was in shape. Suddenly she sagged against the wall at an alarming speed, catching herself with one hand. Adrenaline letdown, no doubt, the shock of sudden and unfound speed disappearing.
