Unknown to the two, Shetanth was watching the interplay. It never ceased to amaze the Gold how catty some could get over such simple things as her eggs. That humans established rankings by them, she understood, but to have this sort of back-and-forth between two Candidates was something else.
Orbs narrowed, she judged both of them.
Neither would make Weyrwoman unless Brynn and Kessinth were to die or leave for another Weyr. Shetanth herself had many decades of Turns before she would step from leading this Weyr. There was also the will to ensure her rider would remain Weyrwoman so long as she was able to the post. The Queen would accept no lesser goldpair stepping into that role.
If another Weyr were to start was one thing but Shetanth wanted this small Clutch to stay here. NOT 'up and dump' as she heard Oldtimers referred to those that left.

Settling, she watched for the rest of her brood to hatch.
