Yes, re new ideas, well how about the strenghts and looks of lasers and their effects similar or better then Mike Kessels Exe. The reach and longetivity of rockets, their strengths and circle of destruction, different sounds of them and effects.
Stations! Some can spin around their axis like the Trading stations do for a better visual effect, like the Solar Power Plants. or others too.
Exchange or place extra planets and asteroids in sectors (might possibly need more info of the 01.dat file)
Exchange backgrounds (ditto)
