Subject: Track sufaces???

I'm fairly new to the RC world (no my name has nothing to do with rc cars, i'm making fun of RC51's) and am looking into building a track on the side of my house where you can see my car jumping. My question is what is the most popular racing surface (off road of course). I am renting a rototiller, wait did i just say tiller..hehe, this weekend to tear up the grass then i'll be using a small roller to even things out. I am most likely going to use stonedust for the racing surface as it packs down nice and tight, cheap, and doesn't make as much of a mess to the car as regular dirt. Any suggestions on surface materials??? or any other helpfull hints towards building a track??
