Subject: Re: 1/8 Scale Road Racing - Serpent Vector/Impact, HPI Proceed, or Kyosho?
In reply to: Erwin8r in Los Angeles 's message, "1/8 Scale Road Racing - Serpent Vector/Impact, HPI Proceed, or Kyosho?" on 10:49:34 03/05/02 Tue

As far as the best, Kyosho,Mugen,Serpent,Picco are all good. Serpent cars can be a pain at times to get parts for, and I'm only 2.5 hrs from the U.S. distributer, also I attended the winternats (Mugen won), and the Pieter B.(do not ask me to spell his last name) the big man from the Netherlands was there again, and was not too happy with the Veteq. Rumor has it that the Veteq is going to be no more, though that remains to be seen. The vector NT is an excellent car. Piccos are excellent, though I hear they are a bit fragile. The Kyosho on road, I know little about other than Josh Cyrul is a missle with his. The Mugen, is excellent all around, much cheaper to operate, parts are easy to get, and the car drives beutifully, matter of fact Serpent has lost some of there local part sponsored drivers, to Mugen which they receive no sponsorship from...yet, and this is in Serpent country. The Kyosh 4-strokes, if your talking about the T/C, Rally 1/8 scale, they are neat cars, but are not in the same league, to be honest, not even the same sport as the 1/8 on road. I'm a bit biased to my MRX-3, but if I were to start with an 1/8 on road I would seriously look at the Mugen, If the hobby shop can supply parts without having to order them constantly, the Serpent is great also, though again you will spend more on its upkeep. Hope this helps some. Carl

  • Re: I forgot the HPI, It is capable of being competitive(there was one I know of in the A main at the winternats), but I get the impression that HPI does not offer alot of support for it. (NT) -- Carl(FL), 12:22:40 03/05/02 Tue
