Celes awoke abrubtly, blankets hugged to her chest. Shivering, not with cold, Celes rubbed Kier's blue head. The blue awoke instantly, eyes whirling with concern. Celes had to smile. Had anyone really felt as worried about her as Kier did? Maybe her mother. Celes bit her lip slightly and ducked her head, her cropped hair falling over her eyes.
"Oh Kier." Celes breathed slightly. "When did life become complicated?" Kier chirped softly. Complicated? His life wasn't complicated. And neither was Celes's. Celes smiled down at the blue. "Yes, Kier, it is. I'm tired, Kier." Kier cocked his head at that. If Celes was tired, maybe she should go back to sleep. Celes shook her head, fingers tucking stray locks behind her ears. "Not physically tired Kier." Celes paused and scowled in thought. "Mentally tired?" Kier did not understand this. Celes smiled thinly. "I just don't want to have secrets anymore Kier." Celes scratched Kier's blue head. "But something's going to happen soon. I know it." Celes's eyes glowed slightly with barely contained excitement. "C'mon. I'm hungry. And I guess Bao and Ghanos were too. Let's go get something to eat. It's day, anyway." Kier watched Celes as she slid on clothes. She wrinkled her nose slightly at the small heap of dirty ones. "I'll have to find the Headwoman." Celes mused aloud. "And get them washed. Come on Kier! I'm starving!" Her fright of a few minutes ago forgot with the thought of food, Celes smiled sunnily at the little blue. Kier trilled slightly, spreading his wings and landing on Celes's shoulder. Celes looked around her small room once more before heading out. The dirty clothes were left there, lumped into a pile. Sunlight streamed through a few cracks in the walls, giving everything a comforting yellow glow. Smiling to her, and humming silently, Celes stepped out of her room, this time fully visible.
