Hello Kathryn,

This is an unofficial board, so Charlotte doesn't come here and read posts. However you can find out a lot about how Charlotte became a zoologist at the BBC site.

Go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/ and put in 'Unlenbroek' and do a search, you'll get a lot of information.

For example in a chat in 2002, which is here; http://www.bbc.co.uk/nature/chat/missedchat/cu_chat.shtml
she tells how she got the job as a presenter.

She got a degree in zoology and psychology and then she went on to get a PhD in zoology. As part of that she went to Africa to study Chimpanzees. She kept working as a zoologist, and then by chance she was asked to present some BBC nature programs, and became a full time presenter.

There is lots more information at the BBC website.

There are many ways to work with animals besides being a zoologist, such as volunteering to work with charity organisations, etc.

However, if you really want to do zoology, the key is to study hard at school at all your subjects, get good grades, and eventually apply somewhere to do a degree in zoology (maybe mixed in with something else), like Charlotte did.

I hope that helps.

Regards, Breen.
