Subject: Thoughts after watching We Scream For Ice Cream

The episode "We Scream For Ice Cream", in my opinion, had some moments that may foretell some interesting subplots and developments down the road. First of all, the episode starts at the club P3, where Piper is concerned about Caleb looking at her and Phoebe, still having a bit of that young carefree spirit in her, having a little fun teasing Piper about it. Of course, Piper is not too pleased by that, although I tend to think that Phoebe is trying to get her to not worry so much about her relationship problems by teasing her about Caleb's staring. I liked how Phoebe is going about it..."I say 'relaxo'" was her line to Piper.

The main subtext was, of course, Prue trying to come to terms with her feelings towards her father, who she feels abandoned her when she was a child. The various dream sequences, including the recent one of her feeling abandoned at the playground, tell a story of her believing that she was cursed from the time she was born. This could explain her former ambivalence about her being a witch during the episode "Something Wicca This Way Comes". It's a common theme with Prue. She saw her mother get drowned, her father abandon her in her mind, her getting assaulted by someone when she was 17, which was sort of re-enacted in the episode "Be Careful What You Witch For", etc.. We see how Prue has evolved into what she is now and some reasons why. With all that in mind, it seems to me that her now-new state of relations with Victor is only a temporary state of truce. What I'm saying is that because Victor managed to pull her away from the "Nothing", she has to give him her gratitude and cease what ever feelings of rejection she may had before. I don't know how long that would last but I hope the writers follow-up on that point.

Now to the main plot of the episode and those subtexts I mentioned before had a lot to do with the main plot. Prue and Pheebs are sucked into the ice cream truck, which is really a device to collect young demons and bring them to the Nothing before they create more havoc. There, Pheebs gets a premonition about young Prue running in the snow-covered playground, which is re-enacted inside the magickal(sort of) ice cream truck, where she runs scared and Victor rescues her. It was at that point when Prue then believed that the Nothing was targeting young children and that the man was an evil agent. What was interesting about it is how Prue's somehow transferred her feeling about being hurt and abandoned to her feelings towards the young children. As if it was the extra incentive needed to save them. Lo and behold, the children turn out not to be as they thought. Still, I would have liked to see the Charmed Ones elaborate on how they were fooled by them. It looked like they came to that conclusion too fast, IMHO. At least Phoebe brought up the point about how things were going weird with the latest problem during the scene at the attic.

Other thoughts:

- I would like to know if Prue has gone to the picnic organized by Justin or not. :)

- Funny line by Piper where she tried to stop Caleb from asking more personal questions. "I don't know what you're into, but there's a club not very far from here. They have cages, rubber floor and three for two special."

- I'm beginning to wonder why the writers think it's cute to continue to use Leo as a plot device. Leo should be given a bit more personality than that. LOL

- Now that Victor is supposedly going about another new life, how would him being around more affect Piper, especially now that he's going to talk to Leo?

Best Lines:

Prue: Hi, I need some professional help.
Phoebe: No arguments here.
