I had the same problem with hotmail.. I was dumb enough to have my password as my moms name. So I guess the only thing I can say about this is that, don't use peoples names and things names that other hackers can easily find out or assume. And maybe u can try changing your password every week or every month.. whatever is applicable. I know changing passwords is tedious but if u have any other choice I guess lemme know. And one more thing, they have this thing that prompts u with a question in case u forget your password, so maybe u can give an absurd answer or not type in a question at all, thats if u have good memory and u wont forget your password.. thats what I did, Maybe this'll help u too. Try not answering to every single mail u get from unknown people and giving your main email id to chatters on the net if u r chatting regularly. Thats all I can say I guess hope it has been of help to u.
