She Says

She says it's been a while
Since she found love in her heart
She locked away her inner smile
And called it a fresh start

She says love did come around
But refused to stay
Now she keeps her heart firmly bound
Lest someone takes it to play

She says her heart is empty and cold
And she doesn't feel a thing
She doesn't know when a new day will unfold
She doesn't care what it will bring

She says her life is now complete
She cherishes memories deep inside
She keeps them behind a veil so discreet
Yet a hidden love shines in her eyes

She says her tears have long run dry
She's learnt her lessons and made her mistakes
Gone are the times when she'd break down and cry
Over lies, broken faith and heartaches

She says she's as happy as ever
She says she's stronger than bygone days
She says time is the healer
I want to believe everything she says.
