Found a site that treats Valentine-grille IHC Metros well. What an embarrassment of riches!

His "Factory Photos" pages are emphatically worth the wait, for anyone taken with these vans. Note the 1958 "Metro-Mite;" I once owned a '62.

He has about 4 pics of Metro-Mites. The white one with the raised roof didn't come with that--guess an owner was over 5' tall and got tired of ducking =:^D But in that interior view, give or take an engine, that's the sort of clean-slate that is part of a Stepvan's appeal. By '62 they used the same Slant-4 engine and 3-speed manual Spicer transmission as was used in the first-generation IHC Scout-80. Metro-Mites used the same sort of pocket-doors Port & Starboard as do most stepvans; no idea what the hinged door shown on that one OD-green version was all about. Inside, they were not 'walk-through' trucks unless one was 5 feet or less in height. From the rear of the door-opening to the rear of the interior was barely 6 feet. So it might have served as a MH for one, but would have been crowded for two. RKBA! Best regards. __Xpltivdletd
