Since the project vehicle is a step-van, we're talking about an oblong metal box with a sloped windshield and a lot of room underneath. While nominally a "1-ton" capacity truck, it has a 12,000# GVWR and I'm confident its unladen weight is significantly less than 10,000#. So I can build an exhaust that would never fit under a smaller vehicle or under some big-ticket RV with less ground-clearance than a car.

My goal is *silence.* I've seen it done. The truck will eventually be my RV--for roads that would scrap a $100K motor-home in about the first mile. I don't want it wearing-out its welcome as it arrives. Gotta go. RKBA! Regards, all.
