Some christians are against Halloween because it originated as a pagan celebration of the dead, and demons and witches, etc. Others say Christmas and Easter also originated as pagan holidays. Some cite Mt 15:11, 17-19 to show it isn't what goes into a person that defiles them, but rather what comes out of them; even if Christmas and Easter originated as pagan holidays, that isn't what they mean to us now, so what the pagans thought doesn't matter to us.

Would the same apply to Halloween? I remember a night when we could run around in the dark doing things we normally weren't allowed to do :). A few soaped windows, or somebody's car "reparked"... that kind of stuff. Fun, not worship of demons or witches. There were satans and witches out there, but also priests, nuns, cops, robbers, cowboys...

So, should parents allow their children out to trick or treat?
