He smiled at her, weakly. It was small and melancholy, almost as if he regretted something he had done. It was almost as if she had read his mind. He had a feeling there was really only one thought dominating her mind, and that was him. "I can't help you, Celeste, I don't love what you love," Through brief flirtation and hinting, their friendly walks, Celeste had obviously fallen in-something with him. His eyes showed redemption for whatever had caused her attachment to him. Most of all his eyes expressed a deep sorrow that, between them, nothing would change. It was more than enough Celeste be his friend. Their affable conquests and conversations were nothing more than social friendship. He knew nothing about her, and she knew nothing about him. Merely exchange of witty comments and sermons from him. He feared her gaining a sort of dependence on him. He didn't want her to wait around for him to make up his mind because already had, straight from the beginning. "And I really should be going. My next class is coming, and I have hardly half an hour to ready. Have you forgotten? Well, there's your reminder, lovely." He sat still, deciding to be a gentleman and let her depart first.
