Hagrid, a gentle giant (well, half-giant to be exact) stood a little ways off from his hut. His beard made the girls giggle, as it jiggled when he talked. He said in a gruff voice, "Hello 'ittle ones! I'm Rubeus Hagrid and I'll be yeh Care Of Magical Creatures teacher. Please don'y yeh use 'professor' in front of meh name - just Hagrid'll be fine. Now, today I've brought eh special treat. The ladies will be especially taken with her. I present to you eh UNICORN!" Everyone stared at him, not believing what they had heard. Everyone except Alexandra. This was because Hagrid took care of her very own unicorn (Mystique) and pegasus (Gadolphin).

Hagrid disappeared behind his hut to the paddock for a moment and came back leading an unbelievably beautiful misty blue colored foal. Everyone took turns petting the slightly shy unicorn and learned some facts about them.

"Yeh see," started Hagrid, "Unicorns are timid beasts. They like to live alone or in pairs - the mates do, that is - and aren't too keen on large groups of people. It makes 'em uneasy. However, this little foal, Mystique, isn't that shy. Alexandra owns her and the constant petting and handling has made the little foal fairly comfor'ble with humans."
