I volunteer at the Lago Vista PAWS animal shelter. There is a male, neutered pit bull who has been there for 2 years in April. After work I go to hang out with Larry some days so he can get some love and attention. He is about 75 lbs, blue with a white chest. He is absolutely gorgeous. His temperment is wonderful. He is kind of shy. But he loves massages and one-on-one attention. He has a bit of a "humping problem" and this apparently has turned people off to adopting him. Today, (2-15-05) I went to get him from his kennel. He started to jump up. All I did was turn my back to him. When he got back down I gave him a treat and he didnt try it once afterwards.
Folks, this dog is getting depressed and downhearted from being in the shelter for so long. He is a wonderful dog. I would adopt him or foster him if only my apartment pet agreement didnt put a weight limit of 40 lbs on pets.
I might sound desperate here, but I think that this dog is wonderful and worth the begging and pleading.
