My name is Kristin Kelley. I am a graduate student in the department of geosciences at Mississippi State University in Starkville, Mississippi. Yesterday I found a stray pit bull in my yard in terrible condition. A neighbor friend and I took him to the veterinary clinic at MSU, where we paid for them to keep him overnight and begin treating his ailments. He tested negative for heartworms and is being treated for whipworms, roundworms, and mange. He is absolutely skin and bones and has open, weeping sores on his legs. Neither my neighbor nor I have the space, time and money to keep a dog, but we hate to see a good dog put to sleep just because he is a pit bull who has been severely neglected. We are currently boarding him at a rural vet, but need to find a permanent home for him as soon as possible. He is extremely sweet and displays no aggression towards other dogs. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
