I can't figure out how to add a picture here, but if you e-mail me I will.
I got involved with rescuing animals just this past year and have done so successfully up until now. I recently read a post on one of the yahoo rescue/transport groups about this poor emaciated hound dog with an eye problem (the vet can fix it), in this shelter in NC where they use gas. A lot. (This is not a fun way to go.) The hound had been used just to breed puppies for a puppy mill, then deserted.
I drove there to pick up the dog and just foster it until SOMEBODY out there wanted to help. When I got there, there was another dog, they said a shiba inu mix but I have heard two people say a pit bull mix, very pretty and in much better shape, who was on "death row" too. Being a sucker for hard luck cases, I got talked into taking that dog as well.
I took both dogs to a local vet's office, where they got shots and examinations. The pit/shiba inu/lab is very healthy--just skinny. The hound mix has an eye problem which is getting fixed at the vet's on Monday. The hound is unbelievably sweet and very timid. The pit is great with people but likes to feel like he's top dog--having said that, though, he's been hanging out in close proximity with the hound for a long time though with absolutely no incidents. I think he's just silly and full of it!
I cannot keep both. I have contacted every no-kill shelter in this state (VA). So far very few people have been nice enough to even answer my phone call or e-mail.
Can someone please help me?! I am paying for all their veterinary care and will happily continue to do so. I will even pay for them to stay with someone else. I will drive or safely fly them LITERALLY ANYWHERE. They just can't both stay here.
I am willing to pay for EVERYTHING--transport, food, vet bills, etc.--I just cannot KEEP them both in my house. I know literally nothing about them besides what I have posted here.
I have helped transport many other dogs. Now I am asking for help. Can somebody please adopt or even foster one or the other??? Please e-mail me directly.
Thank you.
