Anabelle is an American Staffordshire puppy (approx 9 months old) rescued from New Orleans. She arrived in Atlanta on September 16th, and is currently in a foster home. We took her to the vet, where she was spayed, given all vaccines and a microchip. She is heartworm negative, and has been started on Heartgard and Frontline Plus. Anabelle is very sweet, and loves to play with people and other dogs. She looks just like "Petey" from "The Little Rascals:" white, with a black patch over one eye (both eyes are grey).

Anabelle is deaf, so she will need a home that is either familiar with deaf dogs, or willing to learn (I suggest the book "Living With A Deaf Dog" by Susan Cope-Becker, which is a great resource). But don't confuse deafness with lack of intelligence: Anabelle is "as sharp as a tack," as my grandmother used to say, and picks up things quickly. She is learning basic ASL (American Sign Language) signals like "come" and "stay." She is crate trained and housebroken, and loves to walk on a leash or run with the other dogs in the yard. When considering a deaf dog, keep in mind that being deaf means the dog can NEVER be off-leash unless the area is fenced. Anabelle is a great dog ready for a great home.
