I am 21 years old, female, and am renting a house with 4 soon to be 3 other people. It has a nice fennced backyard with grass as well as cement.
But I am wondering if it's a good time/idea for me to get an animal, moreso a rescued dog.
I don't have a car, and take the bus to work (I work at a dog daycare here in Seattle). I live on a busy street to the front, though the front door (with screen) is hardly used. The backdoor to the backyard and driveway is the one that is mainly used for entering and leaving the house.
I have grown up with Poodles, and the past 8 years with scotties, westies and a large lab mix, along with various other dogs that I have known the families of and taken care of. Though, I am not sure if deal with any of those qualifies me to adopt one of these dogs, I am wanting to see what the views are from others.
While my job has perks, able to bring my dog to work, help with training, food for cheaper prices, I am not sure that this is enough to rise over anything that might be for waiting.
I want to give any animal that I own a good home, and all the love that I have, but I wish to find out if now is the right time for me to do so or if the majority of the views are that I should wait.
And for this I have asked family, people at my work but am mostly curious from those that have or in the process of getting their dogs from rescue places such as this.
Thank you,
Ashley
