50 acres sounds like a beautiful place for a few dogs. growing up on 75 acres, i sometimes had a lot of dogs.

have you thought about rescuing this dog? we rescued a brindle stray who had been injured. she has worked out wonderfully. (we crated her and introduced her to the other dogs gradually. four months later, she's a full-fledged member of the family.)

over the years i've had three of these dogs. they were all people-friendly and a joy to train and have as companions.

personally, i think even abused dogs can be rehabilitated with training. a good pit bull can make a wonderful companion animal.
