Subject: To the working world I go ...

Well, the summer is almost complete. As a reminder, I am in Boston (well, Cambridge really) at the MIT, building the smallest instrumentation robots on Earth:). Things for the most part have gone well. We spent a fair bit of effort fighting our 5 different CAD systems, designing around nutty circuit size constraints, and obtaining itty-bitty parts in itty-bitty packages. Overall, the team (which includes Mr. Mark Sherwood Esq. and Mr. Chad Helm) managed to solve a number of very tricky design and manufacturing problems.

Of course, all good things must eventually end, and the time has come for us to move out of our internationally-renowned $2000 per month (USD), no living room, no dining room, half a kitchen apartment, and to fold to the money. Of course, 24-hour Mark is returning to the beautiful U of S, but my man-servant, Chad, after dutiful service, will be leaving me for the wilderness of upstate NY. He will be sorely missed.

As for me, I've decided to stick with the micro-electronics path and have taken a job at a small company outside of Boston called SoundVision. There, I will be designing Digital Cameras and other gadgets, largely for the advanced Asian market. By advanced, I mean that many of these cameras (though they may be closer to Gameboys) also play mp3s and allow you to send email and play competitive Tetris, or whatever, over your cell-phone. Of course, everything that SV makes has other companies names on them. After completing my first design (HW,FW,SW), I will most likely be migrating into an Application Engineering position.

It's great to see people using this board. Keep it up!

Tim

PS: I will be flying to Saskatoon next Thursday for a week or so, so party at my place. ;)
