Right. What I've noticed at dances and the various videos available that women and men seem to wear any type of dress shoe that are secure on the foot and have a heel and sole that can make tapping noise when they dance (called battering?). I've seen women wearing slip on pumps, boots, 2" heels, anything that is comfortable and secure so they don't go flying off when you really cut loose ;-)

I went to the Milwaukee Irish Fest last summer and had a WONDERFUL time learning and dancing sets. There seemed to be such variety in styles and abilities - another whole new genre of irish dance to learn about.
