Just got a message that this board is available. Great! Here in Lincoln, Ne we put on two Ceilis a year. One in the Fall around Oct 31 and one in the Spring on the first Saturday of March.

The cost will vary depending on what you do and how you do it. The hall we rent usually costs around $200 for the evening. The band can cost us from $100 to $400 or more. We spend about $50.00 on mailings and flyers and take advantage of free public service announcements in the newspaper, radio, and tv. What especially works is word of mouth. Refreshments are mostly donated. Decorations are kept at a minimum.

Sometimes we make a few dollars and sometimes we don't. But the main reason we put Ceilis on is for the pure enjoyment of dancing to Irish music. As Irish dancing becomes more familiar in our area we are hoping to be able to hold more Ceilis and/or bring in bands from other places.
