I agree with Jacki in that just because Lani has tested negative for the genetic mutation does not mean that she definitely will not contract the disease in the future. Lani, though she has a good reason to feel relieved - she is still at as great a risk as other women in the world are for breast and ovarian cancer. As Jacki stated, if Lani did contract the disease it may be even more unfortunate for her and her loved ones because it would come without warning. At least Sherry knows that she has the genetic mutation and a very high probability of contracting the cancer, so she will be able to take advantage of every moment in such a way that is very different from Lani's.
