In response to Kristin's message, I agree that Sherry is now able to live her life more fully because she knows that she probably will contract the disease - she won't have to wonder about it anymore. This can be a good feeling - to know that you have to take advantage of every moment because soon you probably will have cancer. Lani, on the other hand, will continue to have a feeling of fear that she will get cancer, and she also has feelings of guilt that she does not have the genetic mutation while her sister does. This feeling of guilt is not always the best feeling in the world - however if she did find out that she had the genetic mutation I am sure that she would have felt a lot worse. The knowledge that you have this genetic mutation must be very difficult to undertake, and who knows if Lani would have reacted as well as Sherry did.
