I think Kara makes a very valid point here in saying that a parent may want to know about the gene to ensure the safety of their child. On the other hand, many disease do not effect the body until late in life and those people who are "sick" with the gene lead very productive lives. If scientist were to void the world of everyone with a bad gene, then the world would be a lot smaller and sadder. Many people who brighten our world and have made advances in it would not be here today. If it starts with diseases it may not end and would lead to scientist getting rid of babies that have allergies or asthma.
