Because parents could care less how their kids turn out! I have seen on the news where kids attacked a clown at a community service event, and their parents stood by and did nothing. I could go off on a tangent on how rude kids are anymore(while their parents stand by and do nothing about it. It's more important than ever to teach kids respect for other's property but also empathy for others. Every day. My kids are both in middle school now and all my long winded lectures actually did some good:) It's hard,though. I think a lot of parents think their kids are born knowing right from wrong. I also think many parents think that if you can get away with something that's wrong but will benefit them, it's okay to do it. All right. Well, the little kids did not get very many eggs. When one would reach down to grab onbe, a parent would come and snatch it away for their own kids.ITA about parents not teaching their kids to be polite because they are rude themselves. That is why I do not like to very many kid functions, except birthday parties. People tend to remember their manner more at birthday parties than anywhere else. The problem is, too many parents do not want to take the time to teach their kids what is right. Too many people are worried about their own lives, and worry more about how good they look for dressing their kids in designer clothes and throwing expensive parties rather than teaching them values. A child's behavior is a much better indicator of how good a parent is. Also, some try to teach their kids, but set a bad example. -- CC, 11:15:46 03/24/02 Sun

That's why women like Kelly Ripa(I only pick on her specifically because she's on tv) bug me. I think a lot of women watch her and think Kelly's the modern mother.The way to be. Last week I flipped Kelly on for about a minute and she was talking to a woman on the phone. The woman said she was married, worked full time, went to school at night and had two young children. Kelly said something about how busy she must be and the mother on the phone said something like, 'No, you're the one who does so much, Kelly.' And Kelly said, 'Oh, thank you so much.' It was meant to be a compliment but I thought they both sounded stupid, especially Kelly, who has made running around like a chicken with her head cut off the new 'level of achievement' to aspire to.
I do think a lot of parents have to be away from their children more than they want to be out of necessity. What I'm ranting about is the many who do it by choice.
