Yet your comment about the bum raises an interesting question. Is it acceptable for someone to trick themselves into comfort? I don't believe so. If the only thing keeping him alive is his belief in an omnipotent being that loves him, then I say get it over with. I'm alive because I enjoy living, not because I'm living my life to die and live eternally. Well fuck I don't have enough time to finish this rant as I have to get ready for work...oh well another time I suppose :].
