Subject: So Gary doesn't know why the ratings are slipping!

Here we are, June 4th, Independence Day, 2002, and we are right back where we were July 4th 1998. OLTL is once again headed by someone who is so full of himself that he can’t see the forest for his big ego.

Gary Tomlin says that he wishes he knew why ratings are slipping. Is he truly baffled, believing that his product is superior? He adds, "The tricky thing now is that the audience is so volatile, so fragile." Huh? We are volatile, and fragile? No, Mr. Tomlin, we are neither of those. We simply want to view a show worth our time. We are sick of your sappy teens, dull, lifeless, and thoughtless as mud. I’m sure that you have heard from the viewers via letters, e-mails and phone calls, but you have chosen to ignore them. How many more weeks do you expect us to sit through Niki Smith’s screeching and her elastic facial expressions? Todd and Blair proved to be favorites, yet, you chose to put Todd in a quasi-triangle on a deserted island, and instead of making Todd’s send off a memorable one. Instead of restoring Todd's depth and complexity, you continued to have Todd portrayed as an ineffectual, selfish, unfeeling, unthinking, uncaring boob.

Still wondering why OLTL’s ratings are in the toilet, it’s because you put them there, Mr. Tomlin. Your audience isn’t as volatile or as fragile as you seem to think; it is instead, intelligent and intuitive with a low tolerance for bullshit.

Maybe someone should take Gary to the old school of dog training, and stick his nose in it.

[> I am convinced that GT is truly delusional! -- Queen Green Thumb, 07:59:17 07/05/02 Fri

I used to think that he just hated the mags and would say anything in them BUT now I think he also has less than no respect for his audience and really couldn't buy a clue if someone stuck it up his behind.

I swear I was thinking last night that GT was planning to do a Dallas on us and call it amazing. I think Todd is somewhere in a hospital or in an alley comatose and this is ALL just a bad dream--a freaking NIGHTMARE. And when Todd wakes up and the fans find out that we have been royally screwed, GT expects us to oooooh and aahhhhh and say the word "amazing" in unison.

Now here's the worst thing about it--I'd rather have that scenario happen than what seems to be going on now because with what we have now GT seems to be delusional, clueless and egomaniacal--a BAD combination of traits IMO! In fact, here's a possible bit of irony: Could it be that RH is playing Todd as GT's alter-ego--a man who is out of touch with reality, self-congratulatory, delusional, arrogant, and clueless but who expects everyone to love him and can't understand why people are mad at him other than the fact that they are just volatile and fragile (Is this GT's way of saying "dumb"?). Just a thought. --Tessarae87

[> [> Well why would it suck? -- OTWB, 17:22:07 07/06/02 Sat

Gary is merely reacting to all that mail he's gotten begging for the return of the troll, and the dynamic of her selfless love of Todd, even though, he disses her and rejects her, sexually and in ever other way possible... Isn't she noble? Tomlin now KNOWS (through thoughtful mail from REAL Todd fans) that Todd is really NOT evolved enough to have a sexual feelings towards a woman, right? Todd and Blair was just a mistake, I'll be Gary's kicking himself that he can't spin Jack into not being Todd's. Oh well.. Tomlin's also giving BIG props to a good DIDrivel story with Vicki! Aurorakz, try to put yourself in the place of those poor schlubs sitting in group therapy with no OLTL to spin as an aid to their recovery! He's really TRYING to nod to those poor Secrets fans feel who felt so dissed when ABCD disrespected folks with multiple personalities and such, by making a mockery of their disease. His biggest mistake, with Icky/Nikki, IMHO is not giving her ANOTHER twenty five or thirty personalites, THEN it would really be a PSA for those fans, but well, he only has an hour a day, five days a week...

So why would he be surprised if the show is sinking faster than the Titanic? Poor man, he must be wondering, "WTF?"

[> [> [> JMO, I could be wrong but I think GT was trying to bore us to death with Jen and crew and decided to throw in goof Todd and goofier Niki as a wake up call (can't sleep when you're sick at your stomach with the cringing shivers) I'm at a point now I don't know who to blame this mess on, the writers?? The director?? The actors and their (acting) choices?? Anyone older than 10 who thinks this shit is good, needs their head examined. I've all but given the show up for a lack of interest....BAH!! -- Candy, 05:37:43 07/09/02 Tue

I gotta admit, "Babes Behind Bars" was pretty funny.
