Subject: Some random thoughts on current events..

1) Toyota - United fires Frankie Andreu because he didn't show to DS at a race that he origianlly was not scheduled for (my interpretation). Bad move on T-U's part, as Frankie is well-known and (fairly) well liked. My personal opinion was that it was for monetary reasons (the fan-supported team concept has never been successful...), and the excuse used was a convenient one.

2) Tour Positive - Fact: one rider tested positive at the tour, and this was reported by the UCI. Fact: That rider, the rider's team, and federation have been notified. Fact: Landis did not show for two post tour crits. Fact: USA Cycling stated they have not been notified by the WADA / UCI of a rider testing positive. Fact: USADA - "No Comment." Fact: McQuaid “I will say that I am extremely angry and feel very let down by this,” McQuaid said. “The credibility of the sport is at stake. The rider, his federation and his team have been informed of the situation.” Fact: This has changed from the original Times-UK report, in which they quoted McQuaid as saying

3) Tour Positive - Rumor: It was Testosterone. Rumor: It was a stimulant. Rumor: It was on stage 17. Rumor: It was on an last-week stage. Rumor: The rider was not Italian, French or Spanish.

4) Tour Positive - Speculation: Andy Lee (at USA cycling) may not be aware that USA Cycling was notified. Speculation: Same for all the other federation mouthpieces.
(Wild) Speculation: What McQuaid said means it Landis.

5) Tour Positive - Opinion: However this turns out, it's gonna be a mess. Opinion: As in all situations where information is highly limited, speculation and rumor will be contradictory and inflamatory, until the remainder of the facts are known.

6) And finally, it was Landis, and I want to cry.
