There are some very good riders in that race.

It is so rare and special in life to be the absolute best at something. Most of us will never know what it is like. For athletes, that window is short. I'm just made differently I guess, because I don't admire someone who already has to spend so much more time cycling not to just do it smarter and work a little harder to acheive his potential. I don't admire people who are not prepared for the significant events in their profession on a regular basis. I think this "other things in life" statement is an excuse or a justification that will haunt him later in life when he looks back at his lost opportunities. I admire Armstrong, because he tries to do everything in life and fits so much into a day. He trained less last year, but smarter, and got into better form. (Insert canned drug joke here). If you're going to do it, do your best. Its that simple.
