But McEwan-Australia most successful sprinter-has been taken aback by the rising level of violence on the Gold Coast.
McEwan suffered a black eye and fat lip when he was recently king hit by a punter while walking along the glitter strip.
But the Davitamon-Lotto rider says the assailant was wating his time.
"Some guy tried to bash me senseless, but I beat him to it long ago," McEwan said. " I've been senseless for ages."
