Doping - Seizure of doping products in the buildings of team LA-MSS LISBON, May 20, 2008 (AFP), 14:07

The Portuguese police force seized of the doping substances, of the drugs and from the material of blood transfusion in the buildings of the team cyclist Portuguese LA-MSS (Continental), one learned Tuesday from concordant sources in Lisbon. In an official statement, the Criminal Investigation Department (PJ) announced to have seized Monday "of the doping substances, the drugs, the material intended for the blood autologous transfusion as well as medical material in the buildings of a professional team of cycling of the north of the country". In its official statement, the PJ does not specify the name of the team but according to information's of the sporting magazine A Bola, of which AFP obtained confirmation, the searching proceeded in the installations of team LA-MSS, based in Povoa de Varzim (northern). According to PJ'S, the operation, carried out in collaboration with the national Council antidopage, aimed at "checking possible illicit situations associated with behaviors suitable for affect the sporting truth or to cause damage with the health of the athletes by the administration of doping substances." It makes continuation, affirms A Bola, with a series of victories considered surprising of the Portuguese team, in particular in the Tour des Asturies, La Subida al Naranco amd le Grand Prix Paredes Rota dos Moveis. Last 11 May, one of the runners high-speed motorboats of the Portuguese team, Bruno Neves, was deceased after a fall in the Classique d'Amarante.
