yes - good summary it all comes back now thanks.
I think around that time Moncassin got a little too much support from the judges - i seem to remember Cipo being relegated to the back of the bunch for impeding him - on a stage he won!
I do remember seeing an interview with Steels at the time and he was devastated to be thrown out of the race,
he seemed to loose a little of the sprinters natural aggression after that.
As for Abdoujaparov , well he does have an australian rock band named in his honour .
Moncassin had a season of second places but i think now runs the Olympic /French team.
Zabel is still racing.....
