Yeah. Part of me hopes this is an error, but I also dread the possibility of a test method that tarnishes riders with false positives. Athens was the first place this new test was employed.

What is especially odd about this is that the new blood test can only detect the presence of someone else's blood (homologous transfusions). I thought when cyclists did blood doping, they used their own blood (autologous transfusions) taken earlier, preferably during altitude training. There is a lot less risk of other medical complications when the person's own blood is used. The Australian test can't detect autologous transfusions, so if this positive is true it means he was transfused with another donor's blood.
