I see what you mean, but I think it would be extremely unfair towards Zabel to compare him and Hondo...

Zabel has one of the most impressive palmareses (is that the plural?) of the entire peloton, and is a living (riding, heh) legend. Not to mention the lack of team support he's gotten from T-mobile in the last years. He's one of those riders we will look back on in 10-20 years, as one of the greats of our time.


But apart from that: indeed, Hondo is a very colorless sprinter. Not the spectacular style of a McEwen, nor the pure power of a Boonen or Kirsipuu. He's probably better off focusing on riding classics than trying to win stages in GT's...
