It's called marketing, Ed. It was brilliant to call it the Tour de Georgia. Right there that tells people what it is, a bike race. The Tour de France isn't known in the U.S. as the Tour OF France. It's known as the Tour DE France.

The locals picked right up on it with the "Allez y'all" thing.

It also is a respectful wink at the sport's biggest event itself. And this despite the fact that France didn't join Dubya. It's remarkable so cut them some slack.

I cannot BELIEVE that with all the problems in the world of cycling that anyone would get so worked up because some smart people call an event Tour de Georgia instead of Tour of Georgia. If everyone throughout the world of cycling was as smart as the Georgia folks, there'd be a lot fewer problems. OLN is phasing out cycling coverage and people are bent out of shape over what Georgia calls its event?! Give me a break.
