Rebellin has requested Argentine nationality. It's to be decided by the UCI, during the meeting of the Council of Professional Cycling to talk about the ProTour. A UCI spokesman stated "at that encounter we will also speak of the request of the Argentina Federation relative to the change of citizenship of Rebellin". Rebellin is a personal friend of the director of the Argentine selection, Mirko Rosatto, and although he recognizes he does not have relatives in Argentina, he has applied under "special sporting merit".
