If you're American, it makes sense to ride for an American team. Other reasons besides communication: sponsors, training camps in America, easier to figure out the laws, etc.

I'm

You forget that he's wearing the Vuelta's gold jersey. Landis won a race Armstrong participated in (Algarve) earlier this year, had a big role in Paris-Nice, led the team in the Ardennes classics, and had a big role in the Tour. Now he's a co-leader at the Vuelta. Apparently, years of Postal hate have twisted your judgement.

Phonak has no viable Giro

So Landis should join Phonak so MAYBE he'll be their leader at the Giro while he's already a leader now? Nonsense.

>Levi never was going to sign with Discovery.

Perhaps, but that's his problem. Look at all the guys that have signed with Discovery. Obviously, the team is an attractive destination right now. Two years ago that might not have been the case, but right now there's no better place to go, especially for an American rider.

"So
>screw him?" Tell me you are just joking around here.

You forget that Azevedo finished 5th at the Tour. That's better than Leipheimer and Totschnig, BTW. Don't be surprised if Gerolsteiner signs a stronger rider for the Tour and Leipheimer's opportunities dry up. Leipheimer should learn from Julich's experience and concentrate on being a great teammate rather than trying to force a leadership role.
