You're comparing apples and oranges. Teams like Quick-Step and Lotto don't have to have riders fighting it out for the overall in GTs but they do go to the GTs with guys capable of getting stage wins. And they of course take big guns to the one-day races too. It's easier for a team loaded with good sprinters to get results in one-day races and the 3 GTs throughout the season than it is for EE to get results in all those same races.

What would EE's goal be in, say, Paris-Roubaix? Get over the first section of cobblestones before sunset?
