I'm in Paris, and ride south of the city in the Haute Vallée de Chevreuse (http://www.parc-naturel-chevreuse.org/). I guess about 50% of the people have helmets, but the ones who don't are enough that I notice it.
In retrospect; I'm lucky... this is probably a lot better than a Lamborghini! The only encounters with cars I've had have all been at low speed and did little damage.
